Utilities work and road closures
We're progressing work on the scheme, with major improvements to Wheatcroft and Nottingham Knight junctions planned.
To prepare for the main construction phase, utility companies will begin diverting services at both junctions.
We'll be installing traffic management including lane closures, and reducing the speed limit on this section of the A52 to 40mph while we're working. These restrictions will be in place to allow for safe working spaces for our workforce, and ensure the safety of road users.
The overall scheme is expected to run from September 2026 until Spring 2029.
Wheatcroft Junction utilities work
From Monday 7 September 2026
Work starts at the Wheatcroft roundabout for three months with lane closures in place from Monday to Friday.
8am Monday 21 September to 6pm Friday 25 September
A section of Flawforth Lane, where it joins the A52, will be closed from 8am on Monday 21 September until 6pm on Friday 25 September.
Friday 25 to Monday 28 September (8pm-6am each night)
Part of the A52, Gamston Link Road, at Wheatcroft junction will be closed overnight. The road will re-open during the day.
Nottingham Knight junction utilities work
Utilities work at Nottingham Knight junction is due to start in November 2026, lasting for four months. Further information about traffic management and road closures will be shared in advance.
